Claire Tomoko Tatman is a violinist and instructor who performs in Nevada, Arizona, and California and has privately taught violin and coached string ensembles for the past 14 years.
Currently living in Reno, she is a Graduate Teaching Assistant for undergraduate violin students, a member of the Nightingale String Quartet (the quartet in residence at the university), and is working on her DMA (Doctor of Musical Arts) in violin under Stephanie Sant'Ambrogio at the University of Nevada. Claire plays in the Reno Philharmonic Orchestra and actively subs with the Tucson Symphony Orchestra, Fresno Philharmonic, Arizona Opera, and Phoenix Symphony.
As of 2020 Claire became the newly appointed director for the Sacramento Youth Symphony Chamber Music Workshop (SCMW). She is extremely excited for this summer's workshop happening in early July, 2021. Click SCMW link above for registration and details!
Claire enjoys teaching violin and viola in a variety of styles including Classical, Rock, Folk, and Pop. She teaches privately to children and adults of all ages as well as providing supplementary coaching for elementary, middle and high school and summer string programs. She has been a coach and mentor with the Phoenix Junior Strings, the Sacramento Youth Symphony Chamber Music Workshop, and the California Capitol Chamber Music Workshop for the past 8 years and continues to spread her love of chamber music to the world!
